PART 1-The bullied kids 

 Leslie and Jess become friends because they get bullied at school. Jess gets bullied because he is poor and lives on a farm and his parents couldnt afford a $5 pair of shoes for Jess's race so he had to wear hand-down shoes and Leslie gets bullied because she has a different fantasy from others at school and because she imagines where she is and she doesnt just look at reality and write.
